Fight Skunk Spray
Unfortunately, it's sometimes impossible to avoid incurring a skunk's wrath. If you or a pet has fallen victim to a skunk's spray, we recommend the following cleaning solution to deal with the pungent smell:
- Equal parts baking soda and hydrogen peroxide
- 1 teaspoon of dish soap
- Dilute the mixture with water
The baking soda in this mixture serves to neutralize the odor while the hydrogen peroxide neutralizes the individual molecules. The dish soap then breaks down the oils. We've found that tomato juice, despite being a common suggestion, never works.
